I wanted to let folks know what's going on with me in regards to Jungle Fire. I've been feeling increasingly frustrated at the pace of the storytelling. As you've probably noticed, it's damned slow. There have been some external reasons, but even without things like heat waves (and no AC) or family visits, 2 weeks is the absolute tops I can draw a page at. And that isn't good enough. Not because I think anyone is tapping their foot and glaring at us, but because we have so much story to tell and I want to get at least part of it out before we die. Others might be willing to wait. I'm not. The root of the problem is the style of the art. So. I'm going to re-evaluate how I draw this thing. Experiment and sketch and practice and brainstorm until I find something that I turn around faster, that I enjoy doing, and that the two of us agree is fitting to the story. I don't know what that will be, though I can say with certainty it won't be manga and it will still be in color. Can you imagine me without colors? *shudder* I'd go mental. It's possible that you may not even notice the "downtime", seeing as how most pages have taken a month lately, but it's also possible it may be a couple months. Consider yourselves informed. And wish me luck. I really hope this is simply a case of finding myself and not a case of being inadequate for the task.

I'm certainly willing to wait. And I'm equally as certain that whatever it is you come up with stylewise will be stunning, and perfect for the job.

The current voting incentive shows an example of the kind of style being considered. What do you guys think?

I like it a lot! Of course whatever style works for you is the best one. You're able to communicate your truth in every style I've seen you try, and the truth of your story is the most important thing anyway.

I love that sample, it's very vibrant, and to my eye more suited as comicbook art.

I love the style The only thing I'd say is refrain from black lines in the hair. Other than that, I'd say the style will do well for the comic

Your style is your style no matter what medium you're working with. Dunno if -you- can see it, but I can from your elfquest artwork, to your comic, to your bust sketches...it's all really your style.
I say whatever -you- feel comfy and satisfied with, whether that be to spend a month (or more!) on a comic page or a week, you need to be satisfied with the work you put out.
Good luck in the transition hon! I know you'll do grand! *hugs*

I like the style...I don't see how it makes it easier on you.....it actually seems like it would be harder on you!

It's...complicated. The ways of the artist are mysterious and uncanny. If my suspicions are correct and it does turn out to be a faster technique (I'll have to do an entire test page to know for sure), and it is more effective as a comic style, then I'm not going to question my good fortune.

Don't say that....just say magic. And instead of the top post just say OOM! And we'd be like med honey! OR go cross gaming and have you drink IE Change styles!
